The Cellostoppers are a group of dedicated musicians and childhood friends who began Suzuki cello when they were 4 years old. They are called Cellostoppers because it’s a funny name and an essential accessory for cellists, but it also sounds like ‘showstoppers’ or ‘heartstoppers’, which they are.
They are available for weddings, charity events, hospital visits, Valentine’s Day, Christmas and other special occasions. In addition to their classical repertoire, the Cellostoppers enjoy performing different types of music including pop, rock, musicals and any special dedications to suit the occasion. Many of the cellostoppers are also pianists, vocalists, bass/guitar players and drummers, so they can easily move from cello ensemble to a rock band.
The students are also happy to be practice buddies and give lessons to younger students. Please feel free to contact them on cellostoppers@gmail.com or follow them on Instagram @cellostoppers, as they spread the love of music in Hong Kong!

Lucas Cheng
My name is Lucas and I’ve been playing the cello for 11 years. The cello first entered my life when I was 4 years old. My mother brought me to the Suzuki Music Academy, where the teacher introduced me to this "big violin." Unaware at the time, I soon discovered the cello would become a lifelong friend. Since then, I’ve performed with the Suzuki Academy, MYO, school orchestras, chamber music groups, and now with the cello stoppers! I have a passion for performing, as I enjoy making people happy through music. I’m constantly inspired by all genres of music, and enjoy listening to them. I derive joy from solo and collaborative performances, aiming to share the beauty of music and bring happiness to others.

Rachel Rhodes
Hi, I'm Rachel! I’ve been playing cello since I was about 3, so almost 10 years now! Currently, I’m focusing on my cello diploma and Elgar's Cello Concerto in E minor, after focusing more on foundation skills after completing Grade 8 in 2022. In addition to cello, I also enjoy reading, tennis and playing with my dogs in my free time. My favourite cello composer is Bach because he manages to mix patterns and beautiful passages together.

Kairo Taylor
Hi my name is Kairo, I'm mostly a self-taught instrumentalist who loves any chance to perform. My first instrument was the cello, which I still (somewhat) play to this day, but I mainly focus on the guitar and drums at the moment. I have been teaching myself guitar for nearly 5 years, and I've been taught by incredible cello teachers, such as Sandy Kiefer, Rosie Mills, Yi Chun Chen, and Tamara Douglas-Morris. Apart from music, I love running, exploring new things with my friends and building things. I hope to continue playing/studying music for quite a while and hope to keep playing with Cellostoppers whenever I can.
